Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week

In celebration of this year's National Apprenticeship Week, we are shining a spotlight on learner success and the contributions being made to their employers. Data apprenticeships from Cambridge Spark are 'building the future' and accelerating digital transformation.

The #NAW22 theme - ‘Build the Future’ - couldn’t be more fitting for Cambridge Spark. It’s exactly why we started and it’s what we do every single day! For us data skills are always front and centre. We passionately believe that it's the data skills, obtained via a data apprenticeship, that can provide UK industry with the insight needed from their team's to reach their digital transformation goals and aspirations. We help organisations to build data literacy, we bring a data mindset to teams and people. We provide them with the skills and techniques they need to make an immediate and positive impact. Since NAW2021 we’ve supported over 560 apprentices, across more than 100 organisations from a wide range of sectors. Whether we’re helping improve data literacy and confidence for our Level 3 Data Citizens; super-fuelling productivity via Level 4 Data Analysts or creating advanced Data Scientists and Artificial Intelligence skill sets at Level 7, it’s all part of #BuildTheFuture.

Cambridge Spark CEO and Founder, Dr Raoul-Gabriel Urma explains; "Cambridge Spark apprentices are helping to build the future in many diverse and exciting ways. Our data programmes are building the skills and confidence required to make a tangible impact in any workplace or team, both now and in the future. Whether for a seasoned professional or an early career learner, we’re helping individuals to grow and stay motivated, developing fulfilling careers whilst delivering significant value to an organisation."

Exertis Group Head of Business Intelligence, and Level 4 Data Analyst Apprentice, Jonathan Wagstaff, adds, “Data apprenticeships enable myself and my team to keep up-to-date with the latest techniques in AI and data science. We want every team and department in the business to benefit from the full power of being a truly data driven organisation.” Meanwhile at the NHS, Chloe Giles, Data Compliance Administrator at Addenbrookes Hospital says that the Cambridge Spark Data Citizen apprenticeship, “has made me start to think analytically about the data: why we are using it, who it is for, what is the impact?” For pharmaceutical innovator, Pfizer, a recent hackathon delivered important tangible benefits, as the team of their data scientists explained, “At a pharmaceutical company, false results that lead to incorrect conclusions can impact lives so the techniques we practised in our workshops to eliminate human error were immediately transferable to the workplace.”
